Grades 6-8 | Sept-Oct | $295-454/person | Limited to 10 participants
Hike local wilderness areas such as the Middlesex Fells Reservation, Walden Pond, and the Western Greenway, led by an experienced guide. Engage your curiosity, seek out adventure, build camaraderie, and increase your stamina on hikes of varying distances and challenges. Gain hiking confidence as you learn how to read trail maps, pack smartly, hiking etiquette, and navigation technique. Our club will culminate in an optional full-day hike in the White Mountain National Forest, where you will test your endurance and the hiking skills you’ve built during the season, and will serve as a basis for hikes you might want to take on your own. Transportation from Gibbs/OMS and all necessary equipment will be provided for both the club and the hike.
Students will be picked up from Gibbs (3:00pm) and Ottoson (3:15pm)
Sturdy walking shoes, a raincoat, and a good backpack are suggested. If supplies are needed for the after school hikes, we have them. For the White Mountain Hike, all supplies will be included including snacks, backpacks, hiking poles, and water bottles. We hope all Hiking Club members will come along on the Sunday October 27th Full-Day hike.
Note: The full-day hike is on Sunday October 27th and is open to Hiking Club members only, register separately.
