Art on the Trails
More green time, less screen time! Join Guineafowl Adventure Company and KB Creative for a week of art & exploring in nature!
We’re guiding the next generation of nature-based creatives and responsible hikers through experience-based youth day-camps. Campers will travel to different habitats across northeastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, exploring the natural world and creating art focused on their surroundings. Each day we will travel to a unique and beautiful landscape and allow youth to learn about their environment while creating art in different media.
We believe that when young people are given the freedom to explore, create, and reflect, they discover profound connections—to nature, to each other, and to themselves. Our educational philosophy embraces experiential learning as a transformative journey to encounter the natural world holistically, with curiosity, wonder, and engagement. Immersive experiences in nature transcend traditional classroom boundaries and awaken opportunities for personal discovery, ecological awareness, and joy.
Price is $795 per student.
Example of a 5-Day Camp Schedule
Day 1 – Intro to Art and Exploring We’ll get to know each other, the art supplies, and learn some simple drawing techniques. After lunch, we will head off-site to explore a nature area close to camp, take an easy hike to understand how to explore responsibly, and create our first on-site art.
Day 2 – Observe Wildlife & Draw Live Animals A trip to the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, where we explore this unique habitat’s beautiful lush marshes and forests! Campers will learn how to draw animals in motion and enjoy creating art reflective of the animals they see during the day.
Day 3 – Climb Mountains & Paint Landscapes A full-day hiking trip to a mountainous area to hike to the summit! At the summit area campers have the chance to draw or paint the landscapes
Day 4 – Explore a Chasm & Learn Watercolor Our fouth day of camp takes us to Purgatory Chasm, where we will explore rock formations such as caverns, caves, waterfalls, and flowing streams! Campers will learn watercolor techniques inspired by the flowing water while sketching these massive formations during our art creation time.
Day 5 – Investigate & Draw from Tidal Pools Our final day is at Halibut Point in Rockport, MA. Campers will see the fresh-water quarries and explore the rocky outcroppings of the Atlantic coastline. We’ll apply lessons learned from previous days to draw and paint what we find!
